Last night I met a friend for dinner, all day I'd been thinking about it, licking my lips in anticipation of the tasty treats that would be laid in front of me... I was so excited about the up-coming culinary adventure that I decided maximum tummy space would be needed, so opted for a small bowl of steamed spinach for lunch. I was beside myself as I waited for my friend at the tube exit... I did a strange kind of jumpy skip down the street to meal mecca. 'Table for two pleeeease'! I squeaked as we entered. 'Oh, sorry girls, I don't have any tables available I'm afraid, the best I can do is squeeze you in at the edge of the bar in about 90 minutes...' Oh. No. My whole digestive system gave a little shudder, and I slowly came to the realisation that tonight was not going to be the night, and the taste sensation that I had been lusting after would have to wait. I had a little think, and suddenly remembered a lovely place that I'd been to on many occasions and decided that this would be more than perfect for dinner plan b. I smiled with delight as I thought about the yumminess that lay ahead...
Canela is a teeny-tiny little place, serving tasty Portuguese and Brazilian food and delicious wine. I enjoyed traditional meatballs, and my friend the chorizo tart. It was the perfect place to catch up, as it wasn't hugely busy (in a good way) and the atmosphere was relaxed. As we parted ways on the tube platform, we decided that the evening had been a resounding success...
It only means of course, that I'll just have to go out again soon, to (finally) try out the other place!
