Sausage Pancake Face...

One thing that we did manage to do on Sunday was make a delicious plateful of yummy sausage pancakes... The recipe is from the lovely food blog Honey & Jam.

I've slightly altered the recipe by converting the cups into grams...

225g plain flour
½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 egg, beaten
3 tbs melted butter
240ml milk
4 chipolata sausages, cooked and cut into slices

Mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Add the egg and butter, and whisk lightly (not too much, as the pancakes will go rubbery)

Place a pan over a medium heat, and add a little butter. Using a ladle, or large spoon, pour the pancake batter, then sprinkle on a few pieces of sausage. Flip, then brown both sides...

Yummy-scrum, and goes perfectly with duvets, sofas and mis-understood, captive Orca whales!

Lazy Sunday...

Yesterday was NOT a productive day, far from it in fact, it was a super-duper lazy pyjama day. The laziest of pyjama days. Instead of doing anything vaguely productive, my boyfriend and I decided to hang out on the sofa and watch the early 90's family classic, Free Willy. Hell yeah we did! It was great, and yes we did both punch our fists in the air and yell 'Go Willy'! at the appropriate times...

Granted, it wasn't the most high-brow of films to watch, especially with the Oscars just around the corner, but a fun time was had all the same... This then reminded me how I had decided to keep a note of all the films that I had watched (for the first time) during 2011, I got the idea from reading a post on Where The Lovely Things Are... So, here goes, drum roll please! My viewing pleasure from last year...

The sun has got (Nelson's) hat on, hip hip hip hooray...

Ok, so that might not be quite how the song goes, but in Trafalgar Square this morning, that's exactly what was going on... The sun arose two hours early and filled the square with the equivalent of 60,000 light bulbs worth of light. It was created by the artists' collective, Greyworld, and was commissioned by Tropicana fruit juices to launch their Brighter Mornings campaign... I completely missed it, not being anywhere near Central London at such an un-godly hour, but these photos are incredible!

Oiseau du jour...

The oiseau of the moment is of the sponge based variety... Today is my flatmate's birthday, so I decided to celebrate the occasion with a carrot cake owl.

The recipe I used was from Delia Online...

Rhea Thierstein...

I must admit that I have a slight obsession with the astounding creativity of Rhea Thierstein. She has many a string to her bow... Set designer, prop stylist, costume designer, and art director. She has created sets for American, British and Italian Vogue, POP, Vanity Fair, and W Magazine. As well as art directing Tim Walker's film 'The Lost Explorer', the Jessie J video for 'Price Tag', and the McDonald's 'A-Z' ad campaign... Phew-ee! This is only a small snippet, the extent of her work is amazing! The child-like innocence and faded, pastel shades that she brings to her work create a sense of romanticism and her clear love of nature is a definite source of inspiration. My favourite images from her portfolio are the photo shoot with Scarlett Johansson, and the props for an Italian Vogue shoot that she also did with Tim Walker... Stunning!
