A friend was telling me the other day, that when she was little, her mum would always tell her off for dancing around on her chair whilst at the dinner table... 'Only greedy people dance when they're eating,' she would say. Well, I am obviously a big ol' greedy guts, as I quite often have a little boogie whilst enjoying some tasty grub... I can't help it, if something is yum, I'm going to have to express it with a spontaneous shimmy!
This got me a-thinking about a delicious lunch my sister and I had a while back, it was to celebrate her graduation, and so was laden with sumptuous treats. We had cava with fresh glistening pink raspberries, smoked salmon sandwiches with rocket, cream cheese, a generous grind of black pepper and a douse of lemon juice. We also visited the University Cafe, where our eyes nearly popped out of our heads, and our inner five-year olds jumped around with excitement... Nutella ICECREAM, holy moly! This was special, it also had the option to come with a Tunnock's Snowball. Umm. With a smile stretching from left to right ear lobe, I whispered in a faint whimper. 'Ach aye!' I didn't, but we were in Scotland, so this could have been my response. With my two scoops, topped with a chocolate covered marshmallow dream ordered at the icecream bar, we settled down in our red leather clad booth.
I would've liked to have seen my friend's mum trying to stop us from wiggling around with sheer pleasure and delight whilst eating that bowlful of joy... Not dance when you're eating?! I don't think so, enjoy the culinary experience and bust out a few moves if the moment takes you. Just be careful not to get indigestion...
A fitting beat for food based enjoyment... Just don't think about Sammy the salmon whilst devouring the sandwiches.
