Gjon Mili's stroboscopic portraits...

Oh Life Magazine, I could literally spend my life leafing through your glorious glossy pages. This little gem popped up when I last ventured into the archives...

These amazing pictures caught my eye, partly because I couldn't make out the first photograph to begin with... But, I have since learnt that Gjon Mili became a pioneer of the electronic flash, and stroboscopic light in the mid-1940's, and used it to create photographs not purely for scientific means. Fine, intricate details could be captured, with stunning, sometimes ambiguous results.
