Anthropologie...

So the mid-season sale at Anthropologie is upon us, (perfectly timed to coincide with pay day) and it really is a feast of treats! So many lovely things! My favourite, the amAzing array of plates... One of each please!

typically, not all these lovelies are in the sale, find them all here though...

Gjon Mili's stroboscopic portraits...

Oh Life Magazine, I could literally spend my life leafing through your glorious glossy pages. This little gem popped up when I last ventured into the archives...

These amazing pictures caught my eye, partly because I couldn't make out the first photograph to begin with... But, I have since learnt that Gjon Mili became a pioneer of the electronic flash, and stroboscopic light in the mid-1940's, and used it to create photographs not purely for scientific means. Fine, intricate details could be captured, with stunning, sometimes ambiguous results.

Eats and Beats...

Crumbs! (Ha!) I have NOT done one of these lil' beauties for a while...

About six weeks ago, a friend of mine left these shores for a work exchange in Tokyo. Before he departed, we threw him a going away party... Bearing in mind that he does not dig fish, and in particular sushi, we were wondering what he would be eating for the next few months. To overcome his fears, I thought slowly bringing him round to the idea of seaweed wrapped rice would be best achieved by making some really large pieces, in the form of CAKE...

The evening was accompanied by a fitting playlist, commencing with this apt choon from The Vapors...

Friends Forever! Frieda & Nellie...

BFFs Sarah and Stacy started making their beautiful bracelets after travelling around Ecuador and marvelling at the delights that they saw... Reminiscing about bygone summer days sat knotting heartfelt tokens for their besties, led them to combine the hand-woven creations with sparkly, vintage pieces from their Grandmother's jewellery collection...

My inner magpie has just died and gone to heaven! Perfect for grown-up girls everywhere who used to  fill their forearms with brightly coloured, silk thread woven declarations of friendship...

Marimekko...

I had never heard of the Finnish textile and clothing design company, Marimekko until yesterday, when they designed the Google logo, celebrating the spring equinox... With such a burst of colour, and light-hearted charm it sure brightened up my day and made me look forward to the sunny fun times that are just around the corner...

Booja-Booja...

I am a sucker for beautiful food packaging... I long for the day when I can fill kitchen shelves with stunning tin cans, and deck out a larder with pretty labels... sigh.

In the meantime, I'll just enjoy perusing the aisles of WholeFoods and discovering such delights as the intricate patterns adorning the organic, dairy free chocolate of Booja-Booja, expertly crafted by skilled artisans in Kashmir...

Hannah Hooper...

Gosh, once again it has been a little while since my last post... I seem to be a bit distracted at the moment, and have started, or gone to start so many posts and then the inspiration has kind of dispersed... Hopefully all that will change soon though, and I'll get my va-va-vooooom back! One thing that will surely help this is the possibility of an exciting new venture in the pipeline, in the earliest of early stages at the moment, but will hopefully develop into something MEGA! More about that sometime soon (I hope!)

In the meantime... I've been meaning to write a post about Hannah Hooper for flippin' ages, as she is quite a favourite of mine. Not only is she one fifth of the brilliant band Grouplove, but she also is an amAzing artist. The band formed on Crete one summer, whilst Hannah was an artist in residence. She now divides her time between singing, touring the world, and painting beautiful, vibrant artwork for the band.

What. A. Life!

The incredible video for 'Colours', makes me want to go to a festival and jump around with a feathered headdress on!
